And so it Begins!!!!

Good morning Lambert band families!

Welcome to the new families experiencing their very first email blast from the booster president. I hope to provide a platform here to ensure necessary information is disseminated to the band community. You can also check out https://www.lambertbands.com/notes-from-president. I will be putting all mass communications here for easy finding so that you do not have to rifle through a million emails.

Welcome back to those families who have already had to endure the pain of these emails.... Your perseverance is appreciated and commendable.

There is a lot coming up and I hope that everyone is getting belted in for the ride.

Band Camp is coming! Band Camp is Coming!

Depending on one's experience this is exciting, new and fresh or a battle cry!! For me it is a bit of both.

In just a couple of weeks, we will be starting the Band Camp great adventure. There will be a signup genius for volunteers and food donations so that we can keep our kids safe, hydrated and cared for as they march in the gruelling summer heat. Please find all sign-up genius links at: https://www.lambertbands.com/sign-up-genius-page

Rise Up, Longhorn Parents! Call to Action!

So the first request is the following:

Please go to L.A.S.S.O. Lambert Band Booster Interest Form and sign up for one of the open board positions. Do not think that other people will do it or that you do not have the skills. None of us did when we started. We just have a lot of heart and a desire to see the band succeed. We need voices on the board and we need assistance to make things run smoothly.

There is a section in this form to let us know what other areas of assistance you are willing to give. So, please EVERYONE take a moment, review the form and please let us know where you would like to volunteer your time. This will cut down on email requests in the future if we can build a base of volunteers to pull from.

There is a volunteer expectation from each family. We ask that you be generous with your time. There is a lot of work to be done at performances, in feeding the students, and organization. Please jump in.

I thank everyone in advance for the dedication to this organization.

Budget Vote!

I will be scheduling our first meeting later this month. I have to get final approval from our current board and Tonya, the band's executive director. This meeting will be the time for us to approve our budget. I ask that everyone reviews the budget. Every class student has dues. Every parent in the Marching Band, Wind Ensembles, Indoor drum line, and Winter Guard should review the budget and make sure you agree, support and are willing to finance. Please do not acquiesce to the budget and just accept the budget. If you have real concerns, please let them be known. We need a budget that both the Band Directors and the Parents can move forward with and bring to fruition. I do not want to rubberstamp the budget and then we have discontent and mistrust in our band community. Please go, review the budget here- L.A.S.S.O Lambert Band Budget 2022-2023. There is a lot in the budget so do not just give it a once over. Please make sure you understand it. It shows what the real needs of the band are and the need for fundraising.

Also, we are giving people the ability to vote on the budget and give feedback - L.A.S.S.O- Lambert Band Booster Budget Voting Form

Please take this opportunity to review the budget and if you have ideas to better the budget or concerns about it, let us know.

I am always available to answer questions and if I cannot, I will forward them to Tonya. My email is below.

If there is a desire for me to go through the budget, feel free to reply and I can set up a budget meeting for everyone. Just let me know!!!

We can do this, only if we work together!

There are a lot of great things coming your way this year and your support is vital to achieving our goal of assisting our students to become the great men and women we know they can be through giving them the opportunity of building themselves up through the rigor, community, and beauty we find in the Art they produce. From the quality of music realized by our talented students, to the showmanship and pageantry of the production, to great relationships born from the hard work and perseverance, the booster renews its determination to accomplish all that is needed this upcoming year to give our students the best opportunity of success.

At this point, we have a lot of leadership positions to fill over the next couple of weeks. There are a lot of them so that we can spread out the responsibility of the band across enough people that anyone who wants to volunteer and who also has a full time job can do both and not be overwhelmed. We also work together to help each other pick up the slack where we can. So if you most graciously choose a position within the leadership/board, know that you will not fail. We will give you the tools and support to succeed. We just need you to step up and offer.

Again, thank you to everyone who will hear this call and help. There is so much to do in so little time. The best metric to determine the health of the band is the percentage of parents volunteering. Not the cash, not the events, not even the skills of the kids. The most important part for me is to see the families supporting, enjoying and being proud of what their children create and then, choose to participate in this great band organization we have at Lambert.

Hope to hear from all of you and get to know each of you well.
