Updates for the week of 6/10

Kevin Morrison

Hello Lambert Bands families! I hope you are enjoying your summer break. Here are some updates for the Lambert Band for the week of 6/10:

We are happy to announce that we have hired Dr. Jon Buccholz as our new Associate Director of Bands. He recently completed his DMA in euphonium performance. More information on the new director team structure will be coming soon!

Calendar Updates

With the goal to make it easier for parents and students to find and subscribe to the calendars relevant to their participation, we’re excited to announce recent changes to how we organize the Lambert Band calendars

- MAIN - Lambert Bands: General events and LASSO-related meetings

- LMB Marching Band: Band Camp, Marching Band rehearsals, Color Guard rehearsals, Drumline rehearsals, football games, and Marching Band competitions

- LWE Wind Ensemble: Wind Ensemble rehearsals and distant performances such as those in Athens, Indianapolis, etc.

We hope these changes reduce clutter and improve your experience and help you stay up-to-date with all band activities. You can now find all the new calendars in Lambert Bands Website.

Office Hours

The band room will be open 2 mornings next week for sectionals or to check out an instrument for summer practice:

  • 9am-12pm on Monday, June 17

  • 9am-12pm on Tuesday, June 18

Marching Band Announcements

Band Camp starts on July 15

 * Edited dates for Wednesday, July 17 and Thursday, July 18 are 9am-9pm.

Please note: Camp, as well as all rehearsals and performances, are mandatory for anyone participating in the program.

Everyone in the marching band should be a part of the following groups on the band app:

Students are expected to come to band camp ready to perform. By Monday, July 15, students should be able to play the following items:

  1. Fundamentals Packet

  2. Show Music Part 1

  3. Show Music Part 2

  4. Show Music Part 3 - coming soon

  5. Show Music Part 4 -  - coming soon

  6. Fight Song - currently being edited/updated

  7. Star Spangled Banner

  8. Alma Mater

If you have questions about which part to play, ask your section leaders. They should know based on the recent edits (e.g., everyone plays the first part for these measures, etc.).

The goal of the Lambert Band is for every wind and percussion student to know all 12 major scales to at least the GMEA standard. So, there's a lot to work on and improve over the summer!

Also, all winds students should have:

  • Korg TM-60

  • Tuner Clip

  • Tonal Energy App for phone or tablet (link is to desktop site but you can find the mobile app through site)

  • Brass Specific:

  • BERP (for trumpets and mellophones only)

  • BERP (Trombone/Baritone Large Shank)

It takes weeks to get acclimated to the weather! PLEASE be active outside every day this summer. Go for a swim, run, do yard work, play ultimate frisbee, and practice your fundamentals packet and show music outside and on the move!

Let's get to work!

Hook 'Em!
